Remember when you used to fly on a plane and have actual tickets! You couldn't log in and check in early, or print your boarding pass, or do anything. Or how about when you had to wait once a month to get a bank statement in the mail. How did we ever survive? Well fortunately for society pretty much everything is done electronically these days- except for those physicians who are not yet on board- you know the ones with fat paper charts over running their office, the ones who still have a pad of paper to scribble down presriptions. We want to say, "Welcome to the 21st century!" The days of calling pharmacies, faxing prescriptions, and waisting time is over- or soon will be if you get with it!  Not only do physicians, assistants, and office staff love the ease of using an electronic prescription program, but patients appreciate it so much.

With e-Prescribing providers no longer have to write or fax a prescription, they can easily transmit new prescriptions or responses to renewal requests to a pharmacy electronically. Not only does e-prescribing improve patient safety and quality of care it saves time and enhances office and pharmacy productivity.

Beginning in 2009 eligible providers can receive a 2% incentive on all their Medicare Part B Claims. The Government is going to eventually mandate that but until then the incentive drops to 1% in 2011 and will be followed by penalties starting in 2012.
